OUR STORY

ACCSF Was Created to Give Africa a Permanent Cultural Home

ACCSF was born out of a simple but powerful realization: in a city celebrated for its diversity, there was still no permanent cultural institution dedicated specifically to Africa. Community leaders, artists, educators, and advocates came together with a shared conviction that Africa deserved more than occasional events or temporary exhibitions it deserved a home.

The African Cultural Center of San Francisco is that home. It is a bridge between continents, a hub for diaspora communities, and a platform where African stories are told by Africans and by those who love Africa. Once again, San Francisco is poised to make history by hosting the first and only African Cultural Center in the city.
